Hello September

Happy Labor Day. If you work in tourism, as I do, there’s two very important days in the season. Memorial Day is very important because it is sort of the kick-off to the summer season. And then Labor Day is the last big hurrah for the season. Whew!!! I am happy to see you Labor Day and the start of a slower work pace.

I have to go back and give August its due, all thirty minutes of it. That’s how fast it seems like it flew by. August was a very busy month.

I started August in Las Vegas at the Star Trek Convention and then had a short visit to Utah and Zion National Park. It seems like as soon as I got back home work was busier than ever and I was trying to juggle everything again.

Star Trek Convention.
We visited the Sphere in Las Vegas
A beautiful drive into Utah.

We are still dealing with a lot of final issues with my mother in law. She passed away in July. We are still settling things with the nursing facility and continuing to clean out her house, which is going to be quite the undertaking.

We had a quick day trip to Nashville for the Time Traveler’s Vintage Expo. That was a lot of fun. And then last week we, hubs and I, had a quick overnight to Nashville for a four month doctor visit for him. We always eat at a nice restaurant and spend the night in the same hotel near the hospital. That makes our trip over and back, about four hours each way, much easier.

Because of my job the summer months are really hard and stressful. Luckily, I have amazing and wonderful co-workers. We try to have as much fun as I can during these times. Life is way too short not to try and enjoy something about every season. But I’m always happy to see the fall season arrive. What is your favorite time of year?

Labor Day is almost over. I am home where I love to be. I just came in and fed the kitties and had some dinner and gave all eighteen orchids a water bath. Now I am off to work on a knitting stitch that I just learned from a YouTube video. Life is good, precious, wonderful!!!!

Love your day your way!!!!

Sunday Morning Coffee Share

Good morning and happy Sunday. It is a beautiful day here. Come on in and let’s have a coffee or tea or share a Latte with me, I have a new Keurig, and I can make Lattes. Let’s catch up.

I can now make Lattes with my new Keurig.

I had to buy a new Keurig Friday. My old one, which was several years old, totally stopped working. I went the entire day without coffee.

I bought this Keurig and it has a milk frother. I love it.

What have I been up to you ask: Work mostly. My work has slowed down a bit but we are a little short staffed so it’s still been a bit hectic. Last week was a bit stressful. We had a news crew that came in and did about four hours of filming. It’s great exposure for us but a lot of work getting ready for it. We have another group coming tomorrow. When the weekend hit I was ready for it.

What am I reading? I just got a book on my Libby app. I have been waiting for several weeks. The Five Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand. So far it is great and I can’t put it down.

What am I working on? I finished the little crochet bag I was making and now I think I will go back and add a lining. That way my keys won’t poke through the stitches.

I have also been working on this scarf. Just a simple knitted scarf that I can do without even looking at it. I always like to have something like this on hand to work on. If I am stressed or can’t sleep I can grab this and work on it for a few minutes. It is so relaxing.

Look at that sunshine!!

What have I been watching? I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore. I just don’t think it is that entertaining. I have been watching Emily In Paris. Season 4 started last week. A young girl from Chicago takes a “temporary” job in Paris and falls in love with Paris, and a few different people. I watched all the other seasons. This season seems a little slower than the others plus they are only showing five episodes and then the others later in the year.

Emily In Paris

What am I loving? That nine of my eighteen orchids are blooming!!! I have been working on my orchid journal. I am caught up have all the orchid’s logged. I like to record when they are blooming. All of my orchids have names now and I will soon do a post on all of them. I know there will be a time when they will loose their blooms. I am hoping that is when the other nine will bloom.

Isn’t she beautiful? This is May Bell
This is some of the crew!!

As you leave you catch a peaceful scene. Kitty Kitty lying in a patch of sunshine.

Kitty Kitty loves the sunshine.

What a wonderful time we have had catching up. Let’s do it again soon.

I will be joining Natalie The Explorer over at the Weekend Coffee Share. Check out some of the other folks and their posts over there.

The Nashville Time Traveler’s Vintage Expo

A couple of Saturday’s ago. My sister, my nephew, his wife and I went to Nashville for the Time Traveler’s Vintage Expo. We had planned it for several weeks and even though it had been a crazy week we were really excited to go. My niece heard about it and we decided to check it out. As I have mentioned before Nashville is about a three and a half hour drive for us.

I met my nephew and his wife in Madisonville and left my car there. We got some coffee and picked my sister up at her house and took off. Let me just say we have the most fun together. It doesn’t really matter what we do we always have a good time together. It seems like we laugh constantly.

We stopped at Buc-ee’s in Crossville for a bathroom break and a snack. I mentioned that in my post Monday. If you haven’t been to Buc-ee’s you really need to try it at least once. Here is the link to the post from Monday.

The expo was being held near the Nashville Fair grounds so it made getting into the expo and parking a little easier, we didn’t have to go downtown. It was a bit of a hike to get inside the building. At least it was indoors because it was HOT!!!!

The expo advertised clothing and home goods etc. we didn’t see many home goods.

It cost $12.00 to get into the expo. Once inside we found rows of booths set up. People were selling vintage clothes, purses and jewelry. Most vintage clothes will not fit me. They are really small but I still like to look. Now, when I think vintage, I think of clothes from the sixties and seventies. But one woman told me she had all of this vintage clothing from the early nineties. WHAT??? It’s hard to believe that was more than thirty years ago. That made me feel a little vintage. Anyway, It was a lot of fun. I apologize for the blurry pictures some of them I took from a video I did. We looked around and spent a few hours there before heading back home. We stopped for a quick dinner on the way home.

Is this not the most adorable thing? I can just imagine wearing this dress to a dance and going out for a milkshake afterwards.

This little purse was actually a hard shell purse. It was very unique.

I love this look. I love scarves and have several.

This was an interesting combination. Fancy!!!

Can you imagine wearing this around the house??

Now for a few things that I bought:

I love the scalloped edges on this dress. I thought it looked sort of
boho. I plan to wear it in the fall with a denim jacket. It is very flowy and comfy.
This purse is fairly large. You can tell by the size of the door handle beside it. I don’t think this is the original strap. Not all of it anyway. But I love these tapestry bags. It reminds me of one my mama used to have when I was a little girl.
This necklace is short and I love wearing it, and a couple of others I have, when I wear a collared shirt. It gives it a little something extra I think.
I love big rings. I always have. These are costume, and not really vintage, but they caught my eye when I first walked in, and when I went back around to the booth they were still there. It was a sign I should get them.
This was done by a local artist. She had several cat prints. Who is her model you might ask? Her cat Marvin. Marvin reminds me a lot of my big boy Gus.

That was the expo. I think this is the third year and I am hoping it grows every year from now on. I also hope they add more vintage home goods I think that would be a lot of fun. Do you like vintage clothes or jewelry?
