Happy Easter or Happy Sunday.

Sunday, April 1, 2018

Happy Easter if you celebrate it and happy Sunday if you don’t.  This may not be a bonnet but it is my Easter bonnet even though I didn’t wear it all day.

What a crazy weekend. My poor little mother in law who is 84 years old fell Friday night and broke her hip.  She is quite a spunky thing and she told me yesterday “ well I guess it was a waste getting my hair done on Friday”.  I said well you looked really good when the ambulance attendants picked you up. We had a  good laugh over that.  Most of my weekend was spent at the hospital but I did spend today with my family and we had food and fun and happiness and laughter.  What a great day.

While I was at the hospital this weekend I spotted these Pansies. I love them. They are such a hearty little plant and grow even in the cooler climates that we can have in East Tennessee in the Springtime

Well good news and bad news.  I will give you the good news first.  Since the dreaded Doctor visit 4 weeks ago. I have lost 10 pounds.  I feel so much better. Eating healthier and low carb gives me so much energy. Now for the bad news.  Procrastination is something I have been trying to work on.  I don’t think I am doing very well. I have to get my taxes done tomorrow and I am still digging out receipts.  Oh well I will carry on.  Wish me luck.

Love your day your way.

When Was The Last Time You Did something For The First Time?

Thursday March 29, 2018

There is a country song out right now by Darius Rucker, When Was The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?  I love this song.

Some of the lyrics go like this:
Let yourself go and follow that feeling
Baby something new is what you’re needing
Like a real night let your hair down feel alive

I hope it hasn’t been too long since you did something for the first time.  I think the last thing I did was start this blog a few weeks ago. I had been toying with the idea for a long time before I actually took the plunge and did it.  I think as I have gotten older I am very curious about trying new things.

It doesn’t have to be anything too daring like skydiving or cross-country skiing.  It could be trying a new food, or a new outfit or doing something totally out of your comfort zone  and yes it might me scary but think of how much fun it could be too.  So let yourself go and follow that feeling cause baby something new is what you’re needing.

So tell me, When was the last time you did something for the first time?

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Tuesday March 27, 2018   (Happy Birthday to my sister Pat)

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.
Brown paper packages tied up with string these are a few of my favorite things.

Yes those are a few of my favorite things but so are these:

This Batiste Dry Shampoo is awesome. It is very reasonably priced only $5.99 at Walmart or Target but a little higher priced at Walgreens or CVS.  If I want to skip a day of washing my hair this gives my hair that just washed feeling.  If I have had a sweaty workout I don’t use this and who wouldn’t wash their hair after a sweaty workout anyway.   A personal note, I prefer the bare with no scent some of the scented ones are a little overpowering for me you may like them.

This Pedi Scrub Foot Buffer is also a great little gem and also can be found at Walmart for only $2.99 and it feels ahhhhhhmazing!!!   This is good for ten uses give or take one. One side is a foamy sponge and then just flip it over and it acts as a pumice stone.  Your feet feel great afterwards.

I have really been working on losing weight since the dreaded doctor visit a few weeks ago. I have been trying to eat low carb as much as possible.  I discovered these tortilla  shells you can find them at just about any grocery store.  I use them for wraps and also to make small pizzas.  These have only 5 net carbs and 50 calories.  They are soft and the taste is great it really makes eating low carb easier.

These Under Armour shoes from Kohl’s have quickly become one of my favorite pairs of shoes. They are on sale now.  If you are an avid Kohl’s shopper like me and my sister Sandy you know that Khol’s doesn’t honor their 15, 20 or 30 % off coupons for selected brands and Under Armour happens to be one of them.  But Under Armour is sponsoring this sale price. Your feet will love you.

These are just a few things I am loving right now like those beautiful red tulips that make me think spring may really be on the way.

I receive no money for recommending these brands if I do I will tell you.  They’re just things I am enjoying and want to share with you.

Love your day your way.

Are You Taking Care of Yourself?

March 24, 2018

Hello and Happy Saturday. It is rainy and cool here in East Tennessee today.  I am always reminded when I complain about the weather something my daddy said many years ago. He had lung cancer and he knew he was dying. About a month before he passed away my mom was looking out the window and she said “ I am so tired of these rainy days I just hate them” my dad got a longing look on his face and said “ I love every day.”  So whenever I think about the weather and want to complain I try to remember just how fortunate I am to be here. Every Day.

Anyway enough of that. I promised you some pictures of our table that we decorated on Thursday night for the Chamber of Commerce  Banquet. Our table won Third place!!! We did a spring gardening theme.  There were so many beautiful tables.  A lot of money was raised

A much needed haircut yesterday.

The first picture was taken about 3 weeks ago when I was in St. Louis.  Some bad lighting but you can see how long my hair was.  I really needed a cut it had been quite a while.  I have been working on my low carb eating and  have lost a few pounds  it amazes me how much better I feel letting go of the carbs.  I am scheduled to see my doctor on Monday so I will be able to get an idea of how much I have lost this month.

I was reading one of my favorite blogs the other day and I came across something that really made me think. Why not treat every day like the weeked? (or whatever days you have off from work) A lot of time I think we are rushing to our days off. And if you’re like me a lot of my days off are used to catch up on cleaning house, grocery shopping,  doing laundry oh my!!!  Why not do a little something special after your work days?  You could have a special meal, a nice glass of wine, a massage or facial or as someone told me yesterday, just let your hair down.  Do something good for you. Take care of yourself. Be good to you. You know the old saying if you don’t love you first no one can.  Do something for you and share it with me.  I would love to hear it.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Lisa
